Why is it called the land of milk and honey. I've heard of that before, but wasn't sure why??
:iconmorangie:
its a line from the torah (bible) when g=d reffers to israel as eretz chalav vedvash (land of milk and honey in hebrew)

Aww. Thanks. Thats what I thought, but I never had it confirmed. There is a song by Matisyahu the mentions "The land of milk and honey" but I wasn't sure.
I thought you were gonna move to L.A. and come check out Long Beach?
You still gonna move some day?
:iconmorangie:
not to LA, if im going anywhere its only to Israel..i grew up there so it only makes sense to go back home
LA isnt for me...
Matisyahu is amazing, you like him?

Yah, Israel would be pretty cool. Thats rad that you were born there. I've never been, but would love to go some day. Its such a beautiful country. If only I was Jewish I could go on one of those birthright trips; like Taglit or something. I'd like to stay in a kibbutz. It just seams kinda scary over there right now. I know that Israelis likes Americans from what I've heard, but its still the middle east, and theres so much fighting going on all around that region. I'd be afraid of a suicide bomber or something. I know that seams like a pesimistic or ignorant veiw, but thats kinda the way the media portrays life. Someday I'll go. Maybe when president bush isnt blowing up the middle east anymore.

Yah, I love Matisyahu. I saw him in concert last year at the Ragga Muffins festival in Long Beach. I have both of his albums and I really like the way he incorperates the Hasidic and the Rasta faith as one. They both come from the old testament anyway. I'm surprized no one thought of it sooner. Oh, crap. I'm really rambling. Sorry. I got to get back to teaching my class. Have a nice day ~Morangie. : )

ryan, the media succeeds in portraying israel as a scary place. i just lived there for 8 months and not even once did i feel threatened, even during the lebanon war. im telling you..its all a hoax. its a very safe place and noone is getting blown up..it DID happen unfortunately but the chances of you actually being caught up in that are as low as you contracting the SARS virus. :)
for real..you should try out the kibbutz life. its amazing. ya the birthright trips are only for jewish people..hey..you can always convert!! (jokes)what do you teach?

Yah, thats kinda what I thought, or at least assumed was true. I never really thought that Israel was a scary place, just the countries around Israel seem scary. Like Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Palistine...
But again, I am probably misinformed.
Thats cool that you were living in Israel recently. I thought that you had just been visiting. I actually concidered adopting the Jewish religion a couple of years ago. I do not have a religion to which I affiliate myself, but I was dating a Jewish girl for a couple of years and I concidered "converting". I guess theres still time!! J/k
Actually I work at a bartending school as a bartending instructor! I also do private parties on the weekends a couple times a month...
:iconmorangie:
um palestine isnt a country..
ya the countries around are extremely scary because its filled with radical islam
anyways there is always time to be jewish, its a great nation i say but im also bias
anyways, have a great weekend!!
